Here is a selection of what students wrote about this piece of music.
This piece of music is such a sad image. I can image a story from this song. The girl agonizes about something. She wants an answer something. But it doesn’t seem to find. So she decided to go for a walk. After a while, she saw a forest and a lake. There are many little birds and creatures. And she thought it is great for living things all over the world.
I associate this with a young clergyman walking in the morning. He is in a big church and he is exposed to alight from glasses. However, his face looks not happy as if he has an anxiety. He cannot afford notice calling his name by bishop. The road in church is too short for him to walk and think so he will go out soon.
This is a strong image is a bar. In bar, I am drinking wine with my boyfriend. We enjoy spending time along together, and we drank a lot of wine. Time passed very slowly. In that place, so we have a very relaxing time. That day is our anniversary, so I was given the present by him. I was very glad to get this present from him, and I give a present for him. He was glad too. I felt like our relationship got deeper.
I felt both sadness and pleasure from this music and I imagined the story about two children, one is boy, other is girl. They are playing together happily in somewhere, but it is imagination of boy grew up, so it is past of this boy. He remembers, but his memory never came back. What happened to boy and girl, he only knows. It is sadness I felt from this music.
This music is romantic. I imagine two people, a man and a woman. They are eating at quality restaurant. They drink wine. In their circumference, there is the person dancing to music. A man stare her in the face. They are in love each other. He cannot convey love to her. She feels irritated because she wants to tell her feeling to him early, too. They continue silence for a while. When the music stop, he says “I love you.”
This is quiet and elegant. The main sound is a piano. This is repetition but I thought that music is to listen to again and again. When I studied to listen in this music, I will be able to learning to relax. I often listen to this music in coffee shop or otolaryngology. I think the story of this music is that one man is listening to this music quietly while sitting in a chair in a café in a small port town. The man was dumped by women. He was shocked enough to drop.
This piece of music is light. Someone goes up stair and arrive at new home. New home look like a castle. The garden has a lot of flower. Someone open the window, look at the sky. Someone carried many luggages into the home. The luggage has a lot of kind of things. For example, teddy bear, clothes, books, pictures, pens and CDs. One of the CD is this music. It is someone's most favorite CD. Someone is a little girl.
This piece of music is gloomy, season is autumn. A woman, she is broken heated ballerina is dancing to a ballad for she loved boyfriend. There is nobody on a stage, nobody audience, no stage lighting, but she is keeping on dancing. She is thinking to love boyfriend. But her mind is not conveyed to him. Even if she injured her feet, she keeping on dancing for her boyfriend. Dead leaves leave the outside sorrowfully.
There is a girl who wears a black dress in a lobby of airport. She is going to set out a distant town of Europe to grant her dream. She exchanged good-byes with her family and her friends. Some of them cried. But she smiled at them.
Once upon a time, there was the princess. The princess learned piano for a long time. So she practiced it. But one time, she was interested in one person. She saw him through the window. But she didn’t meet him and talk with him. So she did not know him very well. And he did not know her at all. But she fell in love. After a while, her dad introduced her to the person who dad wants her to marry with. She did not decide to her destiny. Because her parent’s right was strong. And she has ever stood. But this time is special for her. So she decided to run away from her house in her mind. She played the piano in her house at last. She remembered her life. Sometimes, she did not want leave with her parents. But she ran away from her house.
This song is like a feeling of a young mother going somewhere to abandon her children, she does not have money to feed her children, so she will abandon her children in front of a house that looks like with a rich family inside, with a family richer than her, so probably the children will have a better life. For me this song demonstrate the unstable feelings and thoughts that she had when she go to abandon her children. At the beginning she feel that she is doing the right thing, with her act the children will be more happier in other family maybe her children can achieve something great! But in the way to the place she get regretful, she think about her living with her children with many problems that her children causes but which make her happy.

In this collection, I first played four different pieces of instrumental music for students without artist information or titles of the pieces. I asked them to write what images or associations they got from the music, asking them to imagine a story that would go with each piece of music they heard. Then, I played them again through this blog for students, with videos and links to information for the artists.

This piece of music is a dumped-man story. Someone is drinking wine in the dark room of the top floor of the high-quality apartment. He has been unlucky in love that day. He is idly looking out of the window. He sinks down.
This music's strong image is a holiday morning. I woke up in bright natural light, and I thinking I hope today is a good day too! I will cook a breakfast, and I will be getting ready. When I am ready, I will eat breakfast. After, I go out with my friends! I will go shopping, lunch, and play the karaoke! I am looking for this time.
I feel nostalgia. When I close my eyes, I imagine urban, mystic night, moon, modern and so on. I cannot explain well, this is good anyway. For example, you listen it as you walk in a urban night. If the moon is in a night sky, it is better.
I imagine a dog running. In holiday, the dog runs away and finds the town where he has not visited yet. The town makes him happy and surprised because he had no idea about human except his master. There are lots of living, love, dream, hope and freedom.
This has a negative image. The boy was very fat. When he was walking, he stuck in a hole. He was fat so he didn’t get out of a hole. He was writhing in pain. Many people assisted him but he did not get out. He reflected on what he had done for the day. He decided that go on a diet.
I imagine a dog running. In holiday, the dog runs away and finds the town where he has not visited yet. The town makes him happy and surprised because he had no idea about human except his master. There are lots of living, love, dream, hope and freedom.

A season is summer. The sky in the west was aglow with the setting sun. I go to beach and see the setting sun. It’s so beautiful. But it will cease to this place, after soon, Moon will exist this place. People will return home by that time. So this beach will become lonely place.
In cafeteria, a lot of people are talking each people. One of the group look like interest talking. Their talked about new movie. But, this cafeteria does not play music. Talk sound heard like this music, because everyone looks like fun. This cafeteria is very big. The roof is very high. Desks and chairs are colorful. For example, yellow, green, pink, orange, purple, blue, white, red etc. Has a lot of light. Lights form is separate.
I imagine a man who is traveling without an object. He traveled some countries and walking a desert a few days. After he got away from a desert, he arrived at the town and found a bar. This bar is so old and there are few people. This music was played in this bar. I felt mysterious from this music, but it maybe agreeable for him.
There is the one bar. Many kinds of guests go that bar every night. This bar has many stories. For example two guests named, five people who play the instruments start the band. That bar gives many guests the opportunities of their life. Tonight, many guests will gather in that bar.
